Packaging Up My Clearance Sale

Introduction

Welcome back to another video! In today's video, I will be packaging up my clearance sale products. I have a wide variety of items that were purchased, including excel scrunchies, normal-sized scrunchies, bows, DIY packs, hair claws, and merch with my logo and entrepreneurship themes. I have over 250 items to package up and ship off to their new owners. But before we dive into the packaging process, let's review the steps I took to prepare for this clearance sale.

Prepping for the Clearance Sale

To ensure a smooth clearance sale, I followed a few important steps. First, I dedicated time to making all the products that would be included in the sale. This involved creating excel scrunchies, normal-sized scrunchies, bows, DIY packs, and hair claws. I also made sure to stock up on merchandise with my logo and entrepreneurship themes.

Next, I printed out packaging slips for each order. I prefer to have these slips ready in advance to streamline the packaging process. Each slip includes a thank you note and indicates the shipping method chosen by the customer.

Shipping Methods

I offer a variety of shipping methods to cater to different types of orders. For domestic parcels, customers can choose between different shipping options based on the size and value of their purchase. Smaller items like bows or smaller scrunchies can be shipped in envelopes or tracked envelopes. However, larger items like excel scrunchies or hair claws require parcel shipping. International orders also need to be shipped as parcels for security reasons. Additionally, I offer an express shipping option for those who require faster delivery.

In some cases, I may upgrade the shipping method if the customer has ordered a large quantity of items or if the order has a high value. This ensures the order is adequately protected and can be tracked throughout the shipping process.

Sorting and Organizing the Orders

With all the products made and packaging slips printed, it's time to sort and organize the orders. I have a table where I lay out all the items and match them with their respective packaging slips. This makes it easier for me to pick and pack the items efficiently.

To keep the workspace organized, I use small boxes to store the products within reach. However, due to the increase in hair claw orders, I've had to reorganize my storage boxes to accommodate the larger products.

Packaging the Orders

Now comes the fun part – packaging the orders! I take each product and wrap it according to its nature – scrunchies are neatly folded or wrapped, bows are secured, and hair claws are carefully packaged to prevent damage during transit.

For protection, I use sturdy boxes for larger or multiple-item orders. I've received some boxes myself, which I reuse for packaging. I cover any pre-existing logos or prints on the boxes with washi tape to maintain a professional appearance. Once the products are wrapped and arranged in the boxes, I seal them using my personalized stickers and add a thank you card.

Labeling and Weighing Orders

Before heading to the post office, it's essential to label and weigh each package accurately. I use my laptop and printer to print shipping labels with all the necessary information, including the customer's address and the chosen shipping method. Then, I weigh each package to determine the postage cost.

Shipping costs vary based on weight and destination. Smaller items typically cost less to ship, while larger and heavier packages incur higher costs. It's important to consider these factors when determining pricing and shipping options.

Trip to the Post Office

With all the packages labeled and weighed, it's time to head to the post office. I load up my packages and make my way to the post office to send them off to their new owners. The postage costs can add up, especially for larger or international orders, but I am committed to providing a reliable and secure shipping service to my customers.

Completing the Remaining Orders

Once back from the post office, I focus on completing the remaining orders. This includes making any remaining scrunchies or face masks that were not yet finished. I also update my inventory to account for the sold items and make note of any special requests or pending orders.

Market Preparation

After completing the orders, I start preparing for the upcoming market events. I expect a high turnout and plan accordingly. While one of the festivals has historically been successful for my business, the other is more uncertain due to potential rain. I consider whether to make a bulk production to ensure sufficient stock or take a more relaxed approach based on expected foot traffic and location within the event.

Conclusion

Packaging up my clearance sale has been a busy but exciting process. I have enjoyed creating and organizing the products, ensuring they are neatly packaged and ready for shipping. With the orders sent out, I can now focus on other aspects of my business, such as preparing for upcoming markets. Thank you to all the customers who supported my business through their purchases and to all the viewers for their continued support. Stay tuned for more videos and updates!
