Working from Home during Hot Days
The past week has been incredibly hot here in Denver, and I've been spending most of my time in the coolness of my basement. However, I must admit that I haven't been as productive as I had hoped in terms of my office work. Adjusting to a new work environment takes time, and I'm still in the process of settling into my basement office. Despite the lack of progress in my office work, I have been working on some stitching projects that I'm excited to share with you. In addition, I have recently added new designs to my Etsy store, Stitching Jewels Design. So, let's take a look at what I've been working on and the new patterns available in my store.
Stitching Projects
Update on Randy Waterloo Place
Although I haven't made much progress, I wanted to show you the little bit that I've stitched on the Randy Waterloo Place project. I've only managed to complete about 10 stitches in one color, but I know many of you are interested in seeing the progress. The fabric has become slightly heavier over time, which gives it a unique texture. Despite the slow progress, I'm determined to complete this project.
Empire State Workers Project
On a brighter note, I have made significant progress on the Empire State Workers project. I estimate that I have stitched around five to six hundred stitches since the last update. The first figure is nearly completed, and I'm currently working on filling out the second figure. The monochromatic design of this project has turned out beautifully, and it has quickly become one of my favorites. The simplicity of using shades of gray creates a striking effect that I absolutely love.
New Designs on Stitching Jewels Design Etsy Store
Speaking of my love for monochromatic designs, I have recently added some new patterns to my Etsy store, Stitching Jewels Design. These patterns are my own creations, and I'm thrilled to present them to you. Let's take a closer look at each of these new designs.

Catching the Stars Pattern
One of the new designs available in my Etsy store is called "Catching the Stars." This pattern is based on a beautiful public domain illustration that I found. I wanted to recreate this illustration in cross stitch, and I'm delighted with the result. The pattern features a stunning mix of dark colors, primarily using shades such as 939, 938, and 310, which are repeated throughout the design. The stitch count for this pattern is 269 by 257, creating a square-like design that will surely catch your eye.
Mama Penguin Pattern
Another adorable addition to my Etsy store is the "Mama Penguin" pattern. The design captures a heartwarming moment between a mama penguin and her baby. The watercolor effect in this pattern adds a soft and delicate touch. With a stitch count of approximately 186 by 255, this pattern is slightly elongated, showcasing the adorable interaction between the two penguins. The color palette for this pattern is a mix of light and bright colors, creating a cheerful and lively atmosphere.
Golden Gate Bridge Pattern
For those who love iconic landmarks, I have created a pattern featuring the Golden Gate Bridge. This design offers a different perspective of the bridge, capturing it from the side with a unique sky and a barge ship below. The stitch count for this pattern is 299 by 166, creating a more horizontal layout. With a color count of around 30 to 40 shades, including a significant amount of winter white, this pattern offers a captivating challenge. The contrast between the white areas and other colors makes this pattern visually appealing.
Twin Towers and Empire State Building Pattern
In honor of the upcoming 20th anniversary of 9/11, I have designed a pattern that showcases the Twin Towers, the Empire State Building, and other iconic buildings in New York City. The stitch count for this pattern is 333 by 162, creating a rectangular shape. The color count is slightly higher for this pattern, ranging from 35 to 40 shades. The brightness of the Twin Towers stands out in this design, paying homage to a significant moment in history.
Woman with Violin Pattern
Lastly, I want to introduce a pattern that holds a special place in my heart: "Woman with Violin." This unique design features a pixelated, multi-colored illustration of a woman playing the violin. The colors blend together seamlessly, creating a beautiful and artistic piece. The stitch count for this pattern is 207 by 295, giving it a slightly elongated shape. With a color count of approximately 35 to 40 shades, this pattern offers a variety of colors that complement each other harmoniously.
