Unboxing New Plants: Adding to My Collection

Welcome to my unboxing video! I apologize for the delay in posting this video as I had some plant sale orders to fulfill. But I'm excited to share with you the new plants I just received. In this video, I'll be unboxing and showcasing four plants I ordered online. Let's dive in and see what I got!

Unboxing Video Delay

Before we delve into the unboxing, I wanted to address the delay in posting this video. Due to an Instagram plant sale I had in my store, I had to pack and ship out numerous plants, causing a slight delay in filming and editing. However, I assure you that this unboxing video is worth the wait!

Plant Sale and Shipping

As a plant enthusiast, I often host plant sales on my Instagram page. This time, I had a large number of plants to ship, resulting in a significant amount of time and effort to ensure that every plant was carefully packed and ready for transport. Although it took me a few extra days to complete this task, I'm happy to report that all the plants were successfully shipped.

Plant Care

In addition to the plant sale and shipping, I had fallen behind on my plant care routine. I had a substantial amount of watering to catch up on and decided to rearrange my plant corner to optimize space. This involved moving some plants around and organizing them in a more efficient manner. Now that everything is back in order and all the plants are well-watered, I can proceed with unboxing and introducing my new additions.

Wish List Plant Video

Before we jump into the unboxing, I want to briefly discuss my wish list plant video. I recently shared a video where I showcased various plants I wished to add to my collection. Little did I know that the temptation of Black Friday plant sales would lead me to make a few impulsive purchases. But hey, who can resist adding more plants to their collection, right?

Online Plant Order

Now let's move on to the exciting part – the unboxing! The plants I ordered are from an online shop called The Green Escape. I had previously ordered from them and had a positive experience, which prompted me to place another order. I ordered a total of four plants, including two Hoya varieties and two Alacia plants.

Hoya Lacunosa Silver Mint

The first plant I unbox is the Hoya Lacunosa Silver Mint. Although this particular plant wasn't on my wish list, I couldn't resist adding it to my order since there was a discount for purchasing four plants. The Hoya Lacunosa Silver Mint features delicate silver leaves and a compact size. I notice one slightly yellowed leaf, which I promptly remove. Since this is a small plug, I decide to pot it up immediately.

Hoya Super Silver

Moving on to the second plant, I unwrap the Hoya Super Silver. This was one of the Hoya varieties on my wish list, and I was thrilled to find it available during the sale. The Hoya Super Silver displays beautiful silver foliage, and despite its small size, it shows signs of being well-hydrated. I also notice a yellowed leaf, which I remove. Considering its small root system, I decide to pot it up as well.

Alacia Watania

Next up is the Alacia Watania, the largest plant in the package. This plant caught my attention online, and I couldn't resist adding it to my collection. The Alacia Watania features stunning dark leaves and elongated petals. Upon closer examination, I notice some yellowing on the leaves, but this isn't a cause for concern. Since the roots are more developed, I decide to pot it up using a stratum mix.

Variegated Poly Care

Lastly, I unbox the plant I've been most excited to receive – the variegated poly. This plant has been on my wish list for quite some time, and I finally decided to splurge on it. With a price tag of $55, my expectations are high. However, upon inspection, I notice that the variegation isn't as pronounced as I had hoped. There are a few yellowed leaves, but I remain cautiously optimistic about its growth potential.

Rooting in Water vs. Stratum

After unboxing the plants, I face a decision on how to root them before planting. While I usually prefer rooting Hoyas in water, I notice that the root systems on these plants are not well-established. Therefore, I decide to go against my usual method and opt for using a stratum mix instead. I believe this will provide a better environment for the plants to root and establish themselves.

Rehab and Growth

Once I've potted up the plants, I place them in my plant cabinet to acclimate and rehab before transferring them to their permanent homes. The Hoya varieties will benefit from the controlled environment of the cabinet, while the Alacia plants will adjust well to the stratum mix. Over the next few weeks, I'll closely monitor their progress and ensure they receive proper care and attention.
