Introduction
Hey guys, welcome back to the channel! If you're new here, hi and how are you? My name is Angela, and I run an Etsy shop called Kids Custom Designs. In my shop, I specialize in selling embroidered children's shirts, especially birthday items. Today, I'm excited to share with you my process of creating new items for my shop using different fabrics and designs. So, let's dive right in!
About the Etsy Shop and Products
Before we begin, let me give you a brief overview of my Etsy shop, Kids Custom Designs. I take pride in creating unique and personalized embroidered shirts for children. Each item is meticulously designed and crafted with love and attention to detail. Whether it's a birthday shirt with the child's age or a custom design based on a specific theme, I strive to provide high-quality products that bring joy to both children and their parents.
Exploring New Fabrics for Designing
As a creative entrepreneur, it's essential to keep innovating and exploring new materials to bring fresh designs to my customers. In my recent trip to Joann's, I discovered a range of beautiful fabrics that instantly sparked my inspiration. It had been a while since I last visited Joann's, so the excitement was palpable. I couldn't wait to get my hands on these new fabrics and start making exciting new items for my shop.
Embroidery Machines and Equipment
Behind me, you'll see a line of embroidery machines. I work with both Brother and Baby Lock six-needle machines, as well as two Melco EMT 16x embroidery machines. These machines play a crucial role in bringing my designs to life. If you're interested in purchasing one of these machines, I highly recommend reaching out to Todd Eggersman. His contact information can be found in the description of this video. By mentioning my name (Angela) from YouTube, you'll receive the best price, and I'll earn credit for the referral. Your support is greatly appreciated!
Using Solid Knit Fabric for Samples
Instead of using expensive AJ Blanks t-shirts for creating samples, I have found an excellent alternative: solid knit fabric from Joann's. These fabrics offer a soft texture and are perfect for embroidery work. Plus, they come at a more affordable price. By using these fabrics, I can save the AJ Blanks shirts for customer orders and avoid wastage. In my last video, I provided the SKU number and other details about the fabric, so make sure to check it out if you're interested in purchasing some for yourself. Hurry, as there is a 40% off sale until the 21st!
Cutting and Preparing the Fabric
To ensure the fabric is ready for embroidery, I begin by cutting it into the appropriate size. I usually use the 8x9 Mighty Hoop for most of my designs for sizes 18 months and above. I cut the solid interlock fabric, keeping in mind that it needs to be folded under to prevent any see-through appearance. The size I cut is approximately 18 inches by 19 inches, allowing for proper folding and stitching.
Designing and Stitching Shirts
With the fabric prepared, it's time to dive into designing and stitching the shirts. I have picked out various designs for different shirts, some with customization options and others without. For the ones without customization, like the "Too Wild" and "Forever Wild" designs, I opt for using AJ Blanks shirts directly. These shirts are already made and can be quickly shipped to customers. However, if a customer requests customization, I use a different type of shirt to accommodate their specific needs.
Customization and Non-Customization Options
At Kids Custom Designs, we believe in offering our customers the option to personalize their orders. While most of our designs are available in standard sizes, we also provide customization services for those who want that extra touch. This allows parents to add their child's name, age, or any other special details to the shirt. Customization adds a unique touch to the shirts and makes them extra special for the recipient.
Shipping and Orders
Once the designs are stitched and ready, it's time to pack and ship the orders. Keenan, my wonderful assistant, helps me with this process. We carefully pack each item, making sure it's secured and ready for its journey to the customer. We prioritize timely shipping to ensure our customers receive their orders as quickly as possible. We understand that birthdays and special occasions are time-sensitive, so we do our best to accommodate and exceed customer expectations in terms of shipping and delivery.
Conclusion
So there you have it, an inside look into my process of creating new items for Kids Custom Designs. I hope you enjoyed joining me on this journey of creativity and innovation. I am thrilled to continue offering unique and personalized embroidered shirts for children through my Etsy shop.
