How I Make Bows for My Etsy Shop

Hey everyone, it's me Nida, and welcome back to my channel! It's been a while since I last posted because Etsy has been slow. However, my life has been incredibly busy and chaotic lately. Despite that, I managed to film this video for you all. In today's video, I'll be showing you how I make the bows that I sell in my Etsy shop. I recently added bows and head wraps to my shop as an additional item for customers to add on to their birthday outfits or any other outfits they purchase. Adding these bows is a great way to make extra money, and I highly recommend including them in your Etsy shop. They are quick and easy to make, and there are also various ways to create different types of bows. So let's dive in and learn how to make these bows step by step.

Making Five-Inch Bows

To make a five-inch bow, you'll need a strip of fabric that is five inches wide. You can purchase these strips or cut them yourself. Start by folding the fabric over five inches, then fold it over again another five inches. Pinch the top and bottom, and then pinch the center to create pleats. Wrap a clear rubber band around the center of the pleats, ensuring it is in the right position. Cut off any excess fabric and tie a small piece of fabric around the center to secure the bow. You can use fabric glue or a hot glue gun to adhere the ends to the back of the bow for a clean finish.

When adding a clip to the bow, you can either use a three-inch or two-and-a-half-inch clip. Insert the clip through the knot at the back of the bow, or you can choose to glue it onto the metal part of the clip. Trim any excess fabric if needed. For a nylon head wrap, fold the fabric over five inches and then fold it over again. Pinch the top, bottom, and center to create three pleats. Wrap a clear rubber band around the center and adjust it as necessary. Trim any excess fabric and glue the ends to the back of the bow. Attach the bow to the head wrap by folding a small strip of fabric over and tying it around the bow and head wrap.

Making Three-Inch Pigtail Bows

For three-inch pigtail bows, use a three-inch by 12-inch piece of fabric. Fold the fabric over three inches two times, pinching the top, bottom, and center to create the pleats. Wrap a clear rubber band around the center and tie a piece of fabric around it to secure the bow. Glue the ends to the back of the bow. Attach a two-and-a-half-inch clip to the bow by inserting it through the center or by using hot glue.

Creating Head Wraps

To make head wraps, fold a long strip of fabric, approximately five inches wide, in half. Pinch the top portion and wrap the fabric behind the bow, tucking it under the bow. Fold the fabric over the center and tuck it securely. Fold the excess fabric over the bow and wrap it around the center, tucking it under the bow. Trim any extra fabric and glue the ends to secure them. Add the appropriate batch number and other information to the head wrap.

Preparing Bows for a Market

When preparing bows for a market, write a batch number on each bow and wrap it in a plastic sleeve for protection. You can also display the bows on bow holders to showcase them effectively. Ensure the bows are securely attached to the holders using clips or by folding the bow wrap around the holder if applicable.

In conclusion, making bows for my Etsy shop has been a great way to add value to the products I sell. With just a few materials and some simple steps, anyone can create beautiful bows to enhance their customers' outfits. Whether it's a five-inch bow with a clip or a nylon head wrap, or cute pigtail bows, these accessories are a hit with customers. So why not give it a try too? Add bows to your Etsy shop and watch your sales soar!
